From 5G and camera specs to a giant battery inside, here’s what we’ve grokked about Samsung’s first flagship phone for 2020.

Although the Samsung Galaxy S20 series hasn’t been announced yet، finally Samsung’s next release date Unpacked event is scheduled for February 11th at 2PM ET / 11AM PT, and in typical Samsung fashion, we already have a pretty good idea of what it’s preparing to announce. At the top of the billing is almost certainly its flagship series of smartphones, but there’s also the foldable Galaxy Z Flip and a new pair of true wireless earbuds, like the Galaxy Buds Plus and maybe the Galaxy Watch 2.

Samsung’s Galaxy S series is always one of the most anticipated smartphone releases year after year. Following a modest upgrade with the S9 series, 2019’s Galaxy S10 lineup shook things up with an all-new Infinity-O design for the display, triple rear cameras, and even a third “budget” model.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S20 SERIES

The exact names of the three Galaxy S20 models have been bouncing around, but people are starting to settle on Galaxy S20 5G for the “standard” version, S20 Plus 5G for the middle version (not Pro) and S20 Ultra 5G for what is presumably the largest, most advanced of the three, means that Samsung is almost certainly going to skip the S11 through S19 and jump straight from samsung galaxy S10 to S20. Poor Galaxy S11.

It goes without saying that the Galaxy S20 will be more powerful than the Samsung Galaxy S10. It’s rumored to use a Snapdragon 865 chipset in some regions (likely including the US) and an Exynos 990 one in others (likely including the UK), but these are both top-end smartphone chipsets that should be better than any chipset found in 2019’s Android phones, here are the rumored specs in aggregate, all of them have a Screen: 120Hz AMOLED display.

What to expect from Samsung’s Galaxy S20 event

Last years Unpacked also saw Samsung announce the Galaxy Watch Active 2 as well as the Galaxy Fit. But this year, there have been no significant rumors about any wearables making an appearance alongside its Galaxy flagship. Never say never, but at the moment, it looks like Tuesday will be a very smartphone-focused event.
